After PNG, Fiji Will Now Open Its Embassy In Jerusalem

After Papua New Guinea (PNG) opened its embassy in Jerusalem on September 5 2023, Fiji will now open its embassy in Jerusalem. PNG has become the 5th country in the world to open its embassy in Jerusalem, and Fiji will become the 7th country. These two Melanesian countries are paving the way for the Melanesian group of nations in the Pacific to open their embassies in Jerusalem.
This movement has continued to move since last year. Previously, the Fijian people divorced their nation's idols in Fiji last year, which was carried out by their president. This was followed by the signing of the covenant of his nation in Israel. Not only that, Fiji's leaders were among a group of representatives of Indigenous groups around the world, including Native Americans, Taiwanese and others, who visited Jerusalem to declare the Jewish people the first “First Nations.”

The results of the meeting between the Fiji Prime Minister and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar were publicly presented last week. During the meeting, as reported in the media Israel.com, Gideon said:
“I congratulate Fiji on its decision to open an embassy in Israel, in Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people. "I thank the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sitibani Rabuka, friends of Israel, for taking today's decision on the Fijian government," he wrote.

Meanwhile According to the Times of Israel, Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka told Roi Rosenblit, Israel's ambassador to the Pacific island nations, "My personal feeling is that Jerusalem should be the location of our new embassy in Fiji."

The Fiji Embassy will join the embassies of the US, Guatemala, Honduras, Kosovo, Papua New Guinea and Paraguay in Jerusalem.
